FAMILY GHOSTS – Odyssey of Genes is a photographic and conceptual project that explores identity as a layered biological and historical construct. Using DNA testing as both scientific tool and aesthetic medium, the work reveals hidden genealogies and the invisible ties linking individual bodies to collective memory. It approaches contemporary art as a space of excavation, where intimate histories buried by dominant narratives are brought to light. Identity emerges as a living palimpsest, inscribed with migrations, silences, and unresolved pasts. Blurring science and poetics, the project questions what remains encoded within us, proposing the body as an archive where personal and global histories converge.
FAMILY GHOSTS summons contemporary art as a space of excavation: where collective history buries intimate narratives, the work unearths them. Through the lens of DNA testing — a scientific artefact transformed into an aesthetic object — it maps the invisible ramifications connecting the body to the memory of peoples. Identity is no longer a fixed datum but a stratum, a biological palimpsest in which the silences of History are inscribed. An odyssey of genes that questions what art alone can reveal: the intimate as an archive of the world.
