Dans l’histoire des dictatures du 20e siècle, ceux qui étaient désignés comme des ennemis du peuple étaient éliminés, voire effacés des images d’archives. D’abord physiquement, puis numériquement, leur identité disparaissait, à tout jamais.
Avec l’émergence de nouvelles technologies génératives, les visages reconnaissables de l’Histoire se distordent, désormais difficile à catégoriser socialement.
CRYPTORAMA FACES questionne les caractéristiques de la figure humaine en explorant les usages du portrait NFT et les dysfonctionnement de cette technologie cryptique. Il s’agit d’un processus qui décline une image en plusieurs versions avec un ou plusieurs détails différents à chaque génération sans influer sur la composition générale.
Ce projet alerte les nouvelles générations : avec l’IA, le deep fake et l’appropriation de la voix, l’effacement et l’usurpation de l’identité se banalisent.

Le défi de notre siècle sera de formuler un pacte entre l’homme et la technologie.

ARTIFICIAL NFT INTER|FACES BETWEEN AI AND ETHICS

In the history of 20th-century dictatorships, those designated as enemies of the regime were eliminated and erased from archive footage. First physically then digitally, their identity disappeared, forever.
With the emergence of new generative technologies, the recognizable faces of History are becoming distorted, now difficult to categorize socially.
CRYPTORAMA FACES questions human features. It proposes an NFT portrait technique thus explaining how this cryptic technology works; it is a process that modifies an image by changing one or more details at each new generation without influencing the general composition.
This project warns the new generation: with AI, deep fake and voice imitation, erasure, creation, and theft of identity are becoming commonplace.

Our century’s challenge will be to make a pact between man and technology.

CRYPTORAMA FACES is a suite of NFT digial draw portraits of famous and anonymous people, some of whose faces are masked by ornaments in the form of a human profile. This collection was inspired by the INTERFACES installation presented at the BIENNALE D’ISSY, FRANCE. The theme of the exhibition was: Portrait, Selfie of the Soul. What is the deep meaning of the portrait in a world where we tend to increase the number of selfies? What becomes of the portrait on the contemporary NFT scene and what do the artists want to express? Maybe behind our masks what is hidden inside us …
